Will Smith, Simon Cowell join forces for DJ competition

Simon Cowell is teaming up with Will and Jada Pinkett Smith for yet another musical competition series on television -- this one focusing on a search for superstar DJs.

The show, which will "soon" announce broadcast homes in the United States and United Kingdom, will aim to find the greatest DJs in the world. Cowell's company, Syco, and the Smiths' Overbrook Entertainment are producing it along with Sony Pictures TV.

"DJs are the new rock stars," Cowell says in a statement. "It feels like the right time to make this show."

There's scant information as to the format for now, although it's been in the works for about a year. It also doesn't have a title yet, but we're kind of hoping for "A DJ Saved My Life."

We're also kind of hoping that, since the one-time Fresh Prince is involved, he can throw DJ Jazzy Jeff a bone and have him be involved with the show in some way.
