'Portlandia' Season 2: What to expect
Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein's hipster-skewering comedy series "Portlandia" premieres its second season on IFC tonight (Jan. 6).As evidenced from the Season 2 episodes we've screened so far, the sketches in "Portlandia" continue to straddle the line between completely outlandish and totally relatable. From DJ nights to dog parks, from ironic tattoos to "Battlestar Galactica" obsessions, Fred and Carrie manage to point out the ridiculousness of the Pacific Northwest.
What else should you look out for? Well, a whole lotta famous guest stars. Brownstein's other life as a member of Sleater Kinney allows for some hilarious rocker cameos -- Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder makes a memorable appearance as himself in the second episode -- while Armisen's "Saturday Night Live" connections mean that "SNL" cast members like Andy Samberg will drop by too.
And we've already told you about the epic "Battlestar Galactica" episode, which features more than one cast member from the Syfy series.
Basically, if you loved "Portlandia" Season 1, you'll love Season 2 even more. We promise. And if that doesn't work, you can always go back to putting birds on things.
"Portlandia" premieres Friday, Jan. 6 at 10 p.m. on IFC.
