'Glee': Song spoilers, plus Chris Colfer on Darren Criss' absence
Just because we're all distracted by the Jan. 24 Michael Jackson tribute episode of "Glee" doesn't mean that Ryan Murphy has forgotten about the rest of the season. Another classic musical act will get its due in an April episode when "Glee" covers the Bee Gees.
"We've never done disco on the show, but I'm interested in the genius of The Bee Gees," Murphy tells TV Guide. He's working on not only a nod to the "Saturday Night Fever" soundtrack, but also a possible cameo from star John Travolta himself.
"I would ask him," Murphy says. "Travolta and Cory Monteith became close friends at a party when Cory told him he'd seen [the 1996 Travolta movie] 'Broken Arrow' 20 times. Travolta sent him an autographed copy of the DVD. So maybe we'll have them dance in a Finn dream sequence."
Elsewhere in the "Glee" universe, Chris Colfer spilled on his onscreen love Darren Criss' two-episode absence thanks to his Broadway gig (in "How to Succceed in Business Without Really Trying"). Apparently, he's missing some pretty good stuff, including Ricky Martin's appearance and the annual Valentine's day episode. As you'll recall, Season 2's Valentine's outing was a pivotal episode for Blaine.
Colfer tells TVLine, "You'll find out how [Blaine] leaves for a little bit and then comes back, but it's nothing too bad or serious."
Don't worry, though, because Criss' absence won't be too painful since there's "fun stuff going on for the rest of us," he says.
