David Beckham's Super Bowl ad: Stripped down and inked up

david-beckham-sb-ad.jpgFor its first Super Bowl ad, H&M is going with a simple approach -- which is not to say the spot won't generate attention.

The hip-but-cheap clothing retailer is running a 30-second spot for its new line of David Beckham bodywear, and the ad features the global football (OK, soccer) star, the bodywear, and very little else. What you see below is just 30 seconds of a magazine shoot come to life, with arty black-and-white shots of Beckham, his tattoos and his skivvies, set to The Animals' "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood."

It's not the kind of ad you see during a typical Sunday-afternoon, regular-season NFL game, but then again, regular-season games don't draw 100 million TV viewers. To our eyes, H&M's ad is targeted at the legions of drop-in fans who will be watching Sunday's (Feb. 5) Super Bowl.

Take a look at the ad and let us know what you think.
