Al Gore: Keith Olbermann sticking with Current TV

keith-olbermann-sad-gi.jpgDespite murmers that "Countdown" host Keith Olbermann is at war with his bosses at Current TV, co-founder Al Gore says the TV talker isn't going anywhere and expects Olbermann to be with the network for many years.

Current is in the midst -- largely thanks to Olbermann's audience -- of repositioning itself as a "political news and commentary" destination rather than the bastion of "user generated content" it was at its inception. Olbermann was, however, conspicuously absent -- as he was from Current's coverage of the Iowa Caucuses and New Hampshire primary.

"Keith is not here," said Current TV president David Bohrman, who joined Gore and Current talkers Cenk Uygar and Jennifer Granholm at a Television Critics Association press conference. "He's on vacation."

He continued: "I expect that you will see Keith moving ahead leading our election coverage, which we desperately want them to do."

"He's fine," chimed in Gore, who brushed off speculation that Olbermann is planning to leave current. "He has been the key to our ability to pivot and develop our whole network as a progressive news and commentary network."
