Meet 'The X Factor' finalist: Melanie Amaro

As "The X Factor" voting is now in the hands of the viewers, it seems an appropriate time to give fans insight into the finalists. Zap2it will continue to highlight the remaining acts while finding out more about their background, musical styles and experiences on the singing competition.

On what it's like having Simon Cowell has her coach: He's so understanding about everything and he gives his honest opinion about a lot of things. Whether it's the way you perform or the way you're feeling, he senses it and he says, "If you're not comfortable, then speak up so we can work on it."

On her performing past: I've done a couple school plays. I was always chorus because my drama teacher always told me that I wasn't good enough to be one of his leads.

On what she would say to her drama teacher now: "Look at me now." I've proved him wrong that I am able to stand out and be on my own, so I'm happy about that.

On her plans after "The X Factor": All I want to do is entertain. I want to sing. I want to sing for people and make them happy.
