Howard Stern reacts to the Parents Television Council's 'America's Got Talent' concerns
While Howard Stern fans reacted with enthusiasm after it was announced that he'd be joining "America's Got Talent," the Parents Television Council slammed the choice. They accused NBC of "desperation and having lost its way." The group called Stern "a performer who is synonymous with shock, profanity and obscenity."Stern appeared on "Piers Morgan Tonight" to refute the idea that, "I'm some sort of weird pervert who's going to convert America into some kind of zombie sex fiends."
Stern says he's taking the show seriously and told Morgan, "I can assure you and the rest of America what I'm looking at here is to be a very good judge. To sit there, I take it seriously, you know I watched the show."
Stern has been a fan of the show for some time and repeatedly mentions it on his morning radio show. "I love this type of television. And the idea that they're coming to me I think first got started because I've had a rather long and lustrous radio career," Stern told Morgan. "Whatever you think of me, I'm honest and I'll give you an honest opinion," he added. "And my -- and really my goal is to find real talent and to actually find someone who can become a major superstar."
