Gary Cole joins 'Hart of Dixie' as Rachel Bilson's dad. Kind of. It's complicated.

When we first met Rachel Bilson's character, Zoe Hart, in the "Hart of Dixie" pilot, her daddy issues were immediately apparent -- and that was even before she found out that her real father was dead, and the man she'd called "Dad" all her life had known for years that she wasn't biologically his.Ouch.
When "Hart of Dixie" returns this spring, we'll delve even deeper into that emotional swampland. Gary Cole will join the show in a multi-episode arc, playing Zoe's dad, the hotshot surgeon she's tried all her life to impress. Cole, of course, is a highly recognizable TV actor, having appeared in memorable roles on "Desperate Housewives," "Entourage," and "The Good Wife." TVLine first reported the news.
