'The Vampire Diaries'' Sara Canning hooks up with Dean on 'Supernatural'

That sound you just heard was a party in the Zap2it offices. We're just a little bit thrilled that "The Vampire Diaries'" dearly departed Sara Canning -- otherwise known as Aunt Jenna, who never did get to finish her thesis -- will be guest-starring on an upcoming episode of "Supernatural."

Dean (Jensen Ackles) has been enduring a bit of a dry spell lately, but as reported earlier this month, he's about to get lucky when he meets Lydia (Canning) and they have a "sizzling" one-night stand.

TVLine reports that Canning's character is "wry, independent, and as fun-loving as Dean," and that the two have a "memorable" night together.

There are worse things than being a notch in Dean Winchester's bedpost, and given the very short average lifespan of a Winchester hookup, we wouldn't be surprised if Lydia is introduced to those "worse things."

We're just going to cross our fingers and hope that she at least lives to tell the tale. We can't handle seeing Sara Canning die again.

It all goes down in episode 713, which airs in January.
