'Storage Wars' star sues Trey Songz over 'YUUUP!'

storage-wars-a-and-e.jpgGet ready for the weirdest reality TV-related lawsuit yet: While Kim Kardashian is embroiled in a dispute over a hair removal product (bizarre, yes), another reality TV "star" is involved in his own legal battle.

According to the New York Post, Dave Hester of "Storage Wars" filed a lawsuit after singer Trey Songz sent him a cease and desist letter trying to bar him from using the phrase "YUUUP!"

Fans of the A&E reality series know that Hester's trademark phrase during storage locker auctions is "YUUUP!," and he's even marketed his catchphrase on T-shirts.

Hester says Songz claims he's used "yuuup" as his "signature sound" since 2009, but argues the two phrases are different. In the lawsuit, he says Songz' sound "resembles an animal-like or non-human squeal which begins with a distinct 'yeeee' sound before finishing with a squeal-like 'uuuup' sound," while his is a "more monosyllabic sounding guttural auction bidding phrase ... which is meant to convey the meaning of 'yes.'"

Songz hasn't commented, but Hester's lawsuit is requesting unspecified damages and the free use of "YUUUP!," which he trademarked in September, the Post says.
