Jerry Seinfeld joins Kelly Ripa for first post-Regis 'Live' shows

The show soon to be known as "Live! with Kelly" hasn't named a permanent replacement for Regis Philbin yet, but it does have a pretty well-known guest host lined up.

Jerry Seinfeld will sit in with Kelly Ripa for the first week of shows following Philbin's Nov. 18 departure. He's scheduled to guest-host from Nov. 21-23, and then the show will go dark for Thanksgiving.

"Jerry is a great friend of ours, and a friend of Kelly's, and it doesn't hurt that he's an entertainment icon," "Live" executive producer Michael Gelman says. "It's a great way to kick off the new beginning of our show."

Seinfeld has guest-hosted the show a couple times in the past, in addition to appearing as a guest.

Among the guests scheduled for the first week of "Live" A.R. (after Regis) are "The Muppets" star/co-writer Jason Segel and his co-star Miss Piggy, Kim Cattrall, Howie Mandel and chef Jamie Oliver.
