'The Vampire Diaries' goes back to school: What to expect from 'The Reckoning'
The Mystic fallen are going back to school on this week's episode of "The Vampire Diaries"... but not for Alaric -- er, Mr. Saltzman's history class. It's senior prank night for the Mystic Falls High Timberwolves! Sounds like fun, right? Wrong. When Klaus discovers that Stefan has been keeping a secret from him - an Elena-shaped secret - he, understandably, questions Stefan's loyalty. Up until this point, Klaus hasn't had to compel Stefan, but by the looks of it, a little vampire mind-control is now in order.
All of the incoming seniors are trapped in the school with Klaus... and all of his wrath. With Damon gone, Bonnie may be their only hope for help. Klaus can't kill Elena until a few other things have been taken care of -- and, you know, because she's the star of the show.
We don't want to give too much away, but we will say this -- sources tell us that both Klaus and Stefan will take some unexpected victims before the night is through. A lot of blood will be shed, and by 9 p.m. on Thursday, more than one of our favorite characters will have changed, possibly forever.
Speaking of favorites. Matt has hovered on the sidelines for most of the last two seasons, watching his life fall apart due to circumstances over which he has no control. On Thursday's episode, we'll see him take matters into his own hands.
"At the beginning of last year for him, he was a football player, he had Elena -- sort of just coming out of that relationship -- he felt his friends were good, he had a sister, his mom was in and out. There was a sense of life that he had that he's really lost over the two seasons of our show," executive producer Julie Plec says of Matt's situation. "It's really hurting him. We really get to explore that in a kind of a beautiful tragic way in the fifth episode."
Let's just say this -- as big Matt fans over here at Zap2it, we're scared of what he might do to reach his sister. After all, Jeremy can only contact the ghosts because he died, and Bonnie resurrected him. Now that Bonnie's been cut off from the witch power supply, Matt may be out of luck if he does something too drastic.
Meanwhile, Damon is going to make an attempt to get over Elena (which we're sure will go really well, given his track record for getting over people), and he and Katherine will do their best to use Jeremy's new skills to their advantage.
