'Love in the Wild' renewed for Season 2
It's a jungle out there in the dating world -- literally speaking, for contestants on NBC's summer reality series "Love in the Wild," which has just been renewed for a second season.
NBC will bring back the dating competition in the summer of 2012 for Season 2, the network announced Thursday (Oct. 20). That means a whole new crop of singles will compete in "rigorous adventure challenges" as they try to find love.
Even if you didn't get on board with the summer guilty pleasure, you'll be happy to know that two couples from last season -- winners Samantha Woods and Mike Spiro, along with runners-up Heather Pond and Miles Haefner -- are still happily dating.
Paul Telegdy, NBC's head of reality and late-night programming, said in a statement,
"The success of the relationships formed on the first season of this series is a testament to the unique format of this show. We look forward to an even more compelling season as the series will return with new format twists and a new set of contestants who will conquer the wild -- or not -- to find love."
The show performed well in the ratings for a summer show, averaging a 1.8 rating and 5.5 million viewers each week, consistently finishing first among the big networks in the ever-important 18-49 demographic.
