A portentous show title if ever there were one, the cast of "Free Agents" is now without a team.

NBC has canceled the freshman comedy -- starring Hank Azaria, Kathryn Hahn and Anthony Head -- after just four episodes.

The most recent outing of "Free Agents" managed to earn an audience of just 3.3 million, with a  2.2 rating/4 share of households. That was nearly a 50-percent drop from lead-in and fellow NBC newbie "Up All Night," which was already renewed for an entire season along with "Whitney."

"Free Agents," which followed the romantic foibles of two unlucky-in-love public relations executive, is only the second cancellation of the new season.

NBC's "Playboy Club" was canceled on Oct. 4.
