Burt Reynolds to guest star on 'Archer'

Legendary actor Burt Reynolds is set to guest star on the animated program "Archer" when the series returns in early 2012.

Reynolds will play himself in the spy comedy. In the episode he will date Malory Archer (Jessica Walter), but Sterling (H. Jon Benjamin) is none to pleased about his mom's choice of boyfriends. But as fans of the show know, Malory has a bit of bad taste when it comes to men.

"Archer" creator Adam Reed says in a statement, "Archer constantly tries to imitate Burt and always raves about Burt's movies and all-around awesomeness. So to have Burt recording voice-overs for the show was just amazing."

In addition to his extensive work on the big screen, Reynolds has done work on TV animation as well. He recently guest-voiced on "American Dad!" and in 1997 lent his vocal chords to an episode of "King of the Hill."

The series is set to return to FX in mid-January.
