'The Big C' and Laura Linney returning for Season 3 at Showtime
Just a month shy of its Season 2 finale, Showtime has renewed sophomore comedy series "The Big C."
The dark, critically-favored series follows Cathy (Laura Linney), a reserved suburban mom who gets a second wind in life after a terminal cancer diagnosis.
It recently garnered three Emmy nominations, including an almost-obligatory outstanding lead actress nod for Linney, who's no stranger to formal kudos.
Season 3 -- which goes into production in early 2012 -- will be another 10-episode run for "The Big C," with a debut eyed for the second quarter.
No word on what storylines might come into play in the Season 3, but as Cathy recently shifted from denial to anger on the Kübler-Ross model for addressing grief... fans may want to brace for bargaining.
