"The year of Penny" is really bringing on the guest stars...

After nabbing Megan Mullally and "Daily Show" correspondent Larry Wilmore, "Happy Endings" has booked Fred Savage. Twice.

EW reports Savage, famous for starring on "The Wonder Years" and since becoming a go-to comedy director, will helm his second episode of the ABC series this season. And, in a twist, he'll actually be appearing on screen as well.

Savage will play a parody of himself who goes on a less-than-successful date with Alex (Elisha Cuthbert). Live commentary on "The Princess Bride" is also reportedly involved.

For the new season, Savage already has two episodes of CBS comedy "How To Be a Gentleman" under his belt. He also directed the pilot for NBC's midseason entry, "BFF," which included "Happy Endings" star Adam Pally.
