Amy Winehouse's father believes singer died from alcohol detox

amy-winehouse-mandela-getty.jpgWhile Amy Winehouse's autopsy results were ruled inconclusive, her father believes the late singer died from a seizure during alcohol detox, the AP is reporting.

Winehouse's parents, Mitch and Janis Winehouse, join Anderson Cooper for the debut of his daytime talk show to discuss the singer's troubled, yet accomplished, life.

In the clips the show has released, they state their daughter -- who rocketed to fame with her song "Rehab" -- had not been taking any illegal drugs around the time of her death. Winehouse died in July at age 27.

"She hasn't taken drugs in three years," Mitch Winehouse says. "Everyone thought I was in denial, I wasn't in denial."

He adds, "Her problem was alcohol, the last few years of her life. You might argue, what's the difference? The difference is that what happened to Amy wasn't anything to do with drugs."

The late-singer's parents did admit she was taking the prescription drug Librium, a drug designed to relieve anxiety during alcohol withdrawal.

Cooper will also interview Reg Traviss, Amy Winehouse's boyfriend at the time of her death as well as her stepmother and aunt.

The series kicks off Monday (Sept. 12).
