'Vampire Diaries' star Paul Wesley on Season 3: How far gone is Stefan?
Don't get us wrong -- we love Stefan on "The Vampire Diaries" when he's loyal and reliable. Still, we have to admit that when he went all bloodthirsty in the Season 2 finale, we were over the moon. We can't wait to see what's in store now that Klaus has turned Stefan off the bunny diet and onto a full 'roid-rage blood addict again.Zap2it caught up with our friend Paul Wesley at the Teen Choice Awards on Sunday night, just before he and his "Vampire Diaries" cast mates took home surfboards for winning Choice TV Show in the Fantasy/Sci Fi category. Though we recently spoke with Paul at San Diego Comic-Con, there's always more scoop to be had!
This time, we pressed Paul for info on just how deep Stefan has sunk. Klaus and Stefan have been on a ripper road trip all summer, and it's tough to imagine our resident "good" vampire merrily guzzling human blood together like old pals.
Paul assures us that Stefan isn't so far gone that he'd consider Klaus a friend. "No, definitely not," he says. "I don't know where it'll lead, but at this point, he's an absolute enemy. He killed Aunt Jenna! I can't make friends with that guy. Ripper Stefan is so unexpected in his behavior that I don't exclude anything."
Stefan has always been so steadfast in one thing: his love for Elena. Though he's got great chemistry with other characters (we're looking at you, Caroline), his devotion to his girlfriend has never faltered. We know that human blood turns Stefan into a bit of a junkie, though, and if he's not in his right mind, could he ever find himself interested in another woman... particularly given Elena's changing relationship with Damon?
Paul says that despite the blood, Stefan's eye isn't wandering. "If Stefan is the way he is now, then no," he tells us. "Because Stefan isn't thinking about other women in the least bit. He's completely in love with Elena and he's doing this whole thing for Elena."
That said, we already know that there will be a woman from Stefan's past returning, and with Stefan going off the rails, anything could happen. "If it does, I suppose he has an out, because he was on the blood," Paul jokes.
It's good to know that beneath all the murdering-for-kicks, the Stefan we know and love still has a beating heart. As for whether Stefan is going to completely lose his temper if he finds out about that Damon/Elena kiss from the finale... "I'll answer that with one word," Paul says. "Yes."
Check out the video below for more from Paul, and don't forget to tune in to the Season 3 premiere of "The Vampire Diaries" on Sept. 15 at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.

Love paul wesley, really hope this year he will have a good story. He deserve as much screen time as Ian.
I adore Paul Wesley. I love Paul being good Stefan, bad Stefan and being himself:)
Hope season 3 will be best for him!
UGH THIS MAN IS PERFECTION.
Team Stelena Stefan has chemistry with all the girls but it's only Elena for him. :) Caroline is just like a sister or best friend and it should stay that way.
No doubt Paul will be shining in this new storyline and I can't wait to see how Stefan/Elena relationship will evolve in S3.
