'The Vampire Diaries' stars Kat Graham and Michael Trevino get their Teen Choice thank you on

kat-graham-michael-trevino.jpgThe Teen Choice Awards are always a ton of fun, but as you can tell from the extensive list of winners, there are far more awards given out than can possibly fit into one television special.

"The Vampire Diaries" stars collected a whole lot of surfboards at Sunday night's celebration -- including Choice TV Show: Fantasy/Sci Fi -- and when it came time to take to the stage, Ian Somerhalder, who also won Choice Male Actor: Fantasy/Sci-Fi, was the cast's spokesperson.

"Here's the problem, guys. First and foremost, we can not thank you enough," he told the fans. "We love you like the day is long. Secondly, there are no waves in Atlanta where we shoot. But at some point, we have a big lake, and we will create a wavemaker. Guys, thank you so much. This is for you guys!"

Somerhalder's co-star Nina Dobrev won Choice Female Actor: Fantasy/Sci Fi, and Katerina Graham and Michael Trevino took home surfboards as Choice Female Scene-Stealer and Choice Male Scene-Stealer. Though there wasn't time for Graham and Trevino to speak much during the show, they made sure to thank their fans in a twitter video later that night.

"I wanted to say personally, thank you so much everybody that voted for me," Trevino says. "It's nice to be nominated as a show, but to be nominated individually is really nice. I'm glad that everybody voted. It was so nice to be there for my first Teen Choice Awards, and to be able to leave that awards show with a surfboard is really really cool."

Graham had prepared a speech just in case she did win, but a twitter video from the garage at the SoHo House is even more personal. "First I want to thank my team, and then after that I want to thank our amazing writers because we have these incredible writers that literally sit for hours and hours and days and come up with all the amazing stories that you guys watch on your screens... and we have a crew that busts their butts from morning til night that are amazing, that work hard in Atlanta, that really are just as much deserving of this award as we are, and of course the fans," she says. "This award that we got is really yours. I dedicate it to you, because all the clicking and all the voting and all that stuff, I mean it must have been millions of people that voted."

"The twitter nation is pretty strong. The twitter family is strong," Trevino adds. "We can promise you one thing, I speak for both of us. If we go to the Teen Choice Awards next year, we are both taking over that microphone. I promise you that."

Watch out, Somerhalder!

Very, very nice happy for Kat and Michael, Ian and Nina, they deserved to win. Looking forward to September.

really think micheal and kat are fame ******

Well, nothing against Kat Graham or Michael Trevino, but I'm more interested in hearing Somerhalder or Dobrev speak. They're the main draw for the show, and not the supporting characters. I don't know why they have to make a big deal like this. I must say I've lost a lot of respect for these two actors. This message smacks of jealousy and sour grapes to me.

I'm not a fan of the video. It seems to divide the cast into camps, and that can't be healthy for a show with as much "togetherness" as the TVD actors have to work with.

The only way all of the winners could have spoken is if the TCAs had announced each award separately.

I think this video further fanned the flames of controversy today....making what should have been a fun day for the TVD fans into one of arguments and bashing.

Not a pretty day for the TVD fandom, and this isn't helping.

I think that making this video was a really nice thing to do. They don't sound bitter, to me they seem genuinely really grateful and happy and like they just want to thank everyone for voting for them. They completely seem to get that there isn't time for everyone to make speeches.

wow. it really surprises me that people are putting these two down just for saying thanks. it's not like they are stepping on any toes here. They aren't going on MTV to broadcast this video, or making some psa on the cw. they made a video and sent it in to the fans.

if nina and ian were interested in making a video, they could do so. but god knows they'll have plenty of opportunities being in interviews for various talk shows. Kat and Michael won't. this is pretty much the only time they get to say their piece, so just let them. I think it's actually extremely gracious of them to go out of their way to do this.

I'm sure people who are putting them down are people who didn't vote for them in the first place, and are just jealous. news flash kids, that video wasn't dedicated to you.

The video would've been a sweet gesture, except that last bit about grabbing the microphone spoiled it. Totally unnecessary. Nobody stopped Michael from going up to the microphone. Not anyone's fault that he chose to stand on the sidelines until the last moment when it was too late. And Kat Graham did get to thank the fans. She was the first to say something.

It's unfortunate that all of them couldn't speak individually, but that's what happens when 4 people win individual awards and you only get a minute total to speak as a group.

It's not even necessary to thank us, actually. We all know that they appreciate the fans, the writers and the crew. They don't have to say it individually. Whoever says the words doesn't matter. We fans obviously assume it's on behalf of everyone on stage. The end part of the video seems a tad childish to me. Just my 2 cents.

wow, are people actually serious? They were obviously joking the whole time about taking over the mic, and they know they didnt get to talk because of the time retraint, do people actually believe that they were jealous?

Wow, petty much? I voted for these two, along with Ian and Nina. Soory to say, they're not getting my vote next year.

Oh my God, can you people get over your selves. They both go on and on praising the whole cast and crew yet the one thing you hear is a (COMPLETELY OBVIOUS) JOKE, michael makes and all of sudden its bad character? Way to take the smallest comment and completely sensationalize it. This was a humble and genuine speech to fans, stop trying to turn it into something its not. What do you get out of calling Carina names or bashing the stars of a show your supposedly a fan of? At the end of day Michael and Kat are thankful and you guys are just spiteful.
