'The Vampire Diaries' Season 3 first look: Damon, Elena, and Alaric pow-wow outside the party

Here it is, "Vampire Diaries" fans -- the first official picture from the Season 3 premiere, "The Birthday." Elena (Nina Dobrev) is turning 18, and despite the doom and gloom of the last year, Caroline insists on throwing her a small party. Of course, knowing Caroline, it's no surprise that the bash at the Salvatore mansion is a little bigger than Elena expected, complete with at least one uninvited guest.
This first photo shows Alaric (Matt Davis), Elena, and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) taking a quiet moment outside the house to talk, complete with the bottle of bourbon that's never far from Alaric's reach.
We'll have to wait until Sept 15 to find out just what these three have to discuss, but if we had to guess, we'd say Stefan, Stefan, and more Stefan. Elena's not the type to kick back and celebrate while her boyfriend is off on a ripper rampage.

Kind of hypocritical Vivian. If she shows a Damon and Elena picture, she is wonderful but when she posts anything that is not completely cheery about Damon, she is an enemy. Typical D fan. Although some are very nice.
Make no mistake, if you see all the pics that EW put out, Elena is very sad on this day that they are showing and misses Stefan and Kev W says with Elena and Damon it is more of a deep friendship that develops and nothing romantic long term. Damon is a great bad guy that shows heart now and then and then and Ian a wonderful actor at being that and for that reason, they will never write Damon as being this ongoing good guy settling down with Elena because Ian is so good at being the mostly bad guy and Elena won't stand for the nice one day and kill 3 people the next per Kev Williamson. And Damon really needs to work on getting his own girl instead of going after every girl Stefan has and he probably will eventually because they will end the love triangle with Stefan being with Elena for the time being you can really kind of tell by what KW hints at. Eventually, if the show lasts very long, like Soap Operas, I can see neither ending up with her, LOL. The triangle can't go on past S3 or people will be bored with it. They are already by some polls, which you don't want to happen.

@Sarah - I am neither a Stelena or Delena fan and neither am I in my teens, way past that. Just wanted to let u know beforehand.
Anyway do not believe everything the writers say now, they mislead the fans all the time. To say that Damon/Elena will never happen is premature, it's too soon to say. Lets just enjoy what we get in the meantime.
Damon, Alaric & Elena - cool! Can't wait to see some Damon/Alaric bromance :)
