'The Vampire Diaries': Claire Holt cast as Stefan's vampire ex, Bex

"Vampire Diaries" fans, if you thought Katherine was ten kinds of trouble, get ready to meet Rebekah -- AKA Bex, a beautiful vampire who had the pleasure of Stefan's company back in the early days when he was feasting on human blood.Fans have been curious about this new development for weeks, and now Zap2it can exclusively confirm that Australian actress Claire Holt has been cast as the former object of Stefan's affection.
Holt can currently be seen on ABC Family's "Pretty Little Liars" as Samara, Emily's new girlfriend (though we don't think those two have updated their Facebook statuses quite yet), and is known to Australian audiences for her work as Emma on "H20: Just Add Water." A few of you may recognize her from "Mean Girls 2," in which she played the not-particularly-bright Chastity, one of the Plastics.
She caught the eye of "Vampire Diaries" executive producer Kevin Williamson while he was casting for his new series, "The Secret Circle."
On "The Vampire Diaries," we'll first meet Bex in flashbacks. She's not going to be just a memory for long, though -- she's never quite moved on from Stefan, and you may be particularly surprised to find out what brings her back into his life.
We doubt she'll have any success if she's looking to hook Stefan romantically. As Paul Wesley told us this weekend, "Stefan isn't thinking about other women in the least bit. He's completely in love with Elena and he's doing this whole thing for Elena."

Well, so much for Paul's happy dance. At the end of last season, he was so excited because he THOUGHT Stefan was going to be removed from Elena's ***....now? Due to popular demand, he's still the same old boring Stefan....what a snooze fest! This show is taking anything remotely interesting about Stefan and burying it. That's to bad...so much for the "Ripper Stefan" story arc...looks like it's just going to be more of the same.
Umm, Stefan doing this whole thing for Elena? Last I saw he did it for Damon! Does Paul mean him leaving Mystic Fall and becoming ripper Stefan or something else altogether?
Anyway why do I get a feeling that Bex is going to be big trouble not only for Stefan and Elena but the rest of the gang too...
He's not doing this fOR ELENA, he did it to save his brother Damon.

For Elena? I thought it was for his brother not his girlfriend. Oh jeez, let´s make him interesting instead it goes back to Elena.
That is not true Sharon. Both Kev Williamson and Julie Plec have said Ripper Stefan will be Ripper Stefan most the year. Personally, I never thought he was boring. Not every character can all the time can be the rip everyone apart 24/7. And Paul NEVER wanted to be removed from Elena's life and has always said that. He wanted to do something a little different but has always said he things his character will always love Elena and want her. And I don't get the feeling from KW or JP, it will happen anytime soon into the season but of course it will eventually. The show was built around their love story and you just think they are going to dump it completely. Very naive.

The show was NOT build around just SE love story...it is built around the love triangle between the 2 brothers and Elena!!!
@Sarah - This is not about what Paul wants, this is about what we've seen at the end of S2 and what the writers said S3 is all about.
Everyone is just giving too many contradicting stories about S3.
