'The Glee Project' winner: Samuel and Damian get 7 episodes of 'Glee'
It's been a long road, but Oxygen's "The Glee Project" has come to an end -- and despite several sites reporting Samuel as the only winner, he actually shares the prize with Damian. Self-described "hopeless romantic" Samuel Larsen and Irishman Damian McGinty will both be featured in seven episodes of "Glee" in Season 3.The consolation prizes are pretty good as well. Alex and Lindsay scored two episodes each, so they're certainly not going home empty handed. Lindsay will play a "bad girl," but other than that, we're still waiting on specific details about their characters.
Ryan Murphy spoke to TVLine about "The Glee Project" before the winners were announced. He said, "The person that we ended up picking is not who you would expect, but is so talented that it's really inspired us as writers. The person who wins is not necessarily the best singer or the best dancer. It's the person who can serve Glee best. What kind of character did we need for next season? That's the person who won."
Apparently, the kind of character they need for next season is... four. If Murphy's interview is to be believed, at least one contestant will show up in the season premiere to audition for New Directions in an unconventional way.
We're thrilled that we'll be seeing all four finalists on the show in Season 3. They've proven that they have the talent and the star power to sing alongside the current members of the Glee club. What do you think of Murphy's final decision?

Samuel makes me cringe...he can't sing and he is so creepy looking.
I agree @clandestine green. What I didn't like the most about Samuel was that I felt he was the least genuine of the 4 left. I'm pretty shocked they liked him every week. At least Damian will be on Glee and I'm glad for that.
Damian alone should have won! Samuel is not clean cut and is not pleasant to watch. Damian is pure talent and totally humble!
It's clear, that Samuel was chosen to portray the "Christian" character he had planned for Cameron. It is up to him whether he can really pull it off to last beyond the 7 episodes.
Damion is comedy gold when you think of how his character offers Brittany the opportunity to make a dumb comment a week about she has no idea what language he is speaking. Damion is also the most representative of your high school kid. Unpolished but lots of potential
Damian is my favorite. So happy for him!
Good choices of the 4 but was surprised that Damian, with his 4 years' experience with Celtic Thunder was not the SOLE winner & should have been.
Gorgeous, beautiful voice, charismatic and multi-talented. He will do CT & Ireland proud.
SO Happy for all of them! even though i dont like Samuel or Alex im hoping that they can write likeable characters for them because Damian and Lindsay i love already and everyone else on the Glee Cast is likeable in my opinion. And for those that saying Damian should of won wel he did!!! lol
i totally agree. damian should have been the only winner. it just felt like samuel was just fake. it was like he was trying to be a person he thought they would like. he just came off as a really weirdly non genuine person. I love Damian though and cant wait to see him on glee!!!!!!!!! good luck to all of the winners (even samuel...) on their roles on Glee.!!!!!!
I think that just damian should have won....but if he still got 7 epsiodes I'm alright.....but samuel is still really creepy
Sort of upset that I will have to see Lindsay on my favorite tv show. Already know which 2 episodes Ill be dreading.
