Sarah Silverman pilot lands at NBC after bidding war with FOX, ABC
Fans of Comedy Central's ill-fated "The Sarah Silverman Program" can take comfort in the fact that the star's next project seems almost destined to make it to the tube.
NBC has acquired a new comedy from Sarah Silverman after what Deadline reports was a "major bidding war" between the peacock, ABC and FOX.
The untitled single-camera series secured a put pilot commitment from NBC, meaning once the script is delivered, it's contractually required to go into production -- significantly boosting its chances of making it to air.
Where Silverman's first series seemed to be more of an absurdist take on her life, this next loose adaptation of her own experiences follows a woman reentering single life after leaving her live-in boyfriend of a decade.
Fellow writer-producers of "The Sarah Silverman Program," Dan Sterling and Jon Schroeder, will write the pilot alongside Silverman, with Imagine TV's Brian Grazer and Ron Howard producing.
This latest move from NBC reaffirms the network's decided commitment to female stand-up comedians. Whitney Cummings' self-titled sitcom premieres this fall, with Chelsea Handler's memoir-based "Are You There Vodka, It's Me Chelsea" entering at midseason.

"Bidding War" Seriously! NBC will hire any UNFUNNY left wing hack even if they lose money.
It'll die on it's Thursday Night "Must Suck TV" line up, NBC is where comedy goes to die. Ya know what may get laughs, the Silverman/Kimmel sex tape.
I saw single-cam and stopped reading. Thank god for Whitney!
Sarah Silverman is a vile anti-Christian, liberal, secular Jew who tries to be a comedian. Her blasphemy and mockery of Jesus is legendary and fully intended to be offensive. She's exemplary of Hollywood's exclusion of "gentiles" and their contempt for America and it's values. I see bad things coming her way in the future. May God have mercy on her soul.
