'Psych' Season 6: James Roday says 'Clue' spoof is courting film's cast, 'Twin Peaks'-style
We have not been shy in expressing our sadness, disappointment and utter confusion over the lack of "Psych" on our TV this summer -- but it sounds like the USA series is making good use of it's extra-long break.
Zap2it caught up with stars James Roday and Dulé Hill at the Television Critics Association summer press tour, and in addition to indulging us in a display of their real-life bromance, the duo offered up some particularly exciting details on Season 6.
"This year's 'Twin Peaks' will be 'Clue,'" Roday says of last season's much-hyped "Peaks" spoof, "Dual Spires." "I don't know if it will be as good. I'm willing to lower expectations right now -- just because 'Twin Peaks' is so near and dear to me that I would hate to set the bar that high."
The "Peaks" episode was a passion project for Roday, who co-wrote the episode, and one of the key elements was reassembling as much of the show's cast as possible. Word is still out on if we can expect the same for "Clue," but that is what they have in mind.
"God willing, Tim Curry will come back and reprise his role from Season 2," says Roday, referring to the "American Idol" spoof which saw Curry playing a Simon Cowell-type figure. "Then we'll try to surround him with as many other 'Clue' stars as we can get, 'Twin Peaks'-style."
Roday is currently penning the homage alongside "Psych" creator Steve Franks, so it likely won't air until the second half of Season 6. Enter the silver lining of the "Psych" delay...
"That's the good thing about starting late," says Hill. "The gap won't be as log. It's little gap after probably four weeks off."
So what can we expect when the show returns in October? A lot, actually.
"Lassiter (Tim Omundson) finds love, which is a pretty big deal for that character," Roday adds. "We sort of close out the other mini-franchise that we have, which is Cary Elwes as Despereaux."
"Psych" is currently shooting the last installment of the Despereaux arc, which Roday teases will take on an "Indiana Jones" twist this time around.

Aw, but why does it have to be the last of the Despereaux installments? I love Cary Elwes' Psych character!
Can't wait for S6! It's a good thing I have other shows to keep me occupied until October. lol I loved the Twin Peaks spoof last year. James Roday wrote a truly quality episode, which entertained me from beginning to end. Can't wait to see the Clue spoof. :)
