'Leverage' scores a fifth season on TNT

TNT has picked up a fifth season of "Leverage," which will continue pulling cons through 2012.The pickup -- like that of Syfy's "Warehouse 13," which was also renewed on Friday (Aug. 12) -- isn't a huge surprise. "Leverage" is on track to record its most-watched season yet this year, as both its total-viewer and demographic numbers are up over last year.
So far this summer, the series is averaging 4.8 million total viewers (including DVR playback), a 10-percent jump over last season. Its adults 18-49 (1.9 million) and adults 25-54 (2.3 million) audiences have grown by 6 percent and 9 percent, respectively.
"'Leverage' has defied the odds and continued to climb," says Michael Wright, TNT's head of programming. "More and more viewers are discovering this weekly joy ride through wonderfully complex schemes and con games, all brought to life through smart writing, sharp directing and a terrific cast."
Season 5 of "Leverage" is set to premiere in summer 2012 and will run 15 episodes.

This is the best news I have heard all week. I LOVE this show. What and amazing cast! And, I can't say enough about how the writers and creators treat the viewers. They treat the audience with intelligence and class. Dean Devlin and John Rogers, the driving forces behind the scenes are phenomenal show runners. About 99% of the other scripted shows on TV should take note as to how these guys and this show treat their audience. Even the commentaries on the DVDs enhance viewing pleasure. Bravo to TNT for appreciating such a fantastic show. And, bravo and congrats to everyone involved with Leverage.
Leverage is one of the best shows on television, besides Supernatural (show plug, watch this awesome show!) It gets better every season and I will watch it until it ends or is cancelled.

Well, I'm glad to hear another one of my favorite shows has been renewed. Now how can we twist TNTs arm into grabbing Eureka, which the SyFi channel has decided to throw away!
