'Hart of Dixie': Eisa Davis takes over for Nancy Travis

eisa-davis.jpgThe CW's new series "Hart of Dixie" has found a replacement for Nancy Travis, who had the unusual situation of being in two shows that were picked up for the coming season.

Playwright and actress Eisa Davis will join the show as a nurse at the small-town Alabama medical practice that New York physician Zoe Hart (Rachel Bilson) inherits, TVLine reports. Travis is exiting the show early on because she also stars in ABC's new comedy "Last Man Standing."

Travis will appear in one episode after the pilot, executive producer Len Goldstein told reporters earlier this month, before moving on to her other show. Davis' character will then take over and fill a similar role as an experienced hand who helps Zoe find her place in her new home.

Davis' on-screen credits include several episodes of "Law & Order" and three appearances on "The Wire," where she played Bubbles' (Andre Royo) sister. She also appears in the pilot for NBC's midseason drama "Smash." Davis has written several plays, among them 2007 Pulitzer Prize finalist "Bulrusher," "Angela's Mixtape" (in which she also starred) and "Ramp."

"Hart of Dixie" premieres Monday, Sept. 26 on The CW.
