'Glee's' Mercedes gets a boyfriend: Meet LaMarcus Tinker

We'll just get this out of the way first: if you don't know who LaMarcus Tinker is, we feel bad for you, because it means that you missed out on not only the perfection that was "Friday Night Lights," but also a whole lot of "Cougar Town" laughs.EOnline reports that Tinker has snagged a coveted role on "Glee" as the new boyfriend of Mercedes (Amber Riley). There are some conflicting reports as to whether his name is Marcus or Bubba -- we've got our fingers crossed for Marcus, because Bubba is just... too much.
[EDIT: Fox confirms that it is, indeed, Marcus. Phew.]
While we're super excited to see Tinker at McKinley High, we're also still a little sad about the circumstances that have left Mercedes without a certain trouty-mouthed secret boyfriend. Sam Evans, you will be missed.
It also makes us curious as to how the winner of "The Glee Project" will fit into the McKinley mix, as executive producer Ryan Murphy told reporters this spring that while taping the show and viewing auditions for potential additions to the "Glee" cast, he often thought, "How will that guy be with Amber?"

If the Glee Project selects Alex or Lindsay, hopefully all 7 episodes will have them in the background. While Alex has a great voice, his attitude has made seeing him a chore. I don't know why they keep saying that Lindsay is such a great actress, she is so artificial that it's painful to watch her. She should have been booted instead of Hannah.
I cannot be more upset about this new boyfriend for Mercedes! She went from Rocky (Horror) quarterback hottie to THAT! Ryan Murphy better come up with the most amazing story line.
SS, I totally agree with you! How could they do this to Mercedes? She has never gotten a decent storyline or boyfriend, and now this? I'm sorry. Then again, maybe with Chord's decision, the writers didn't have a choice. Either way, this guy better be awesome!
Totally with u guys!! I thought they were give her some hot tall stud, someone even in college!!! It looks very stereotypical to me, i am very disappointed with the creators of the show. Its like they are purposefully not having sexy minorities on the show. Mercedes is hot bizness but yet they dress her in these ridic outfits. We need to see some more faces of color Ryan Murphy!!!
Why am I not surprised that they chose an enormous black man for mercedes? Seriously? Glee isn't actually breaking any ground, RM just gives press confrences to say he does, but there's no evidence of that.
Who has the best voice on GLEE. Amber Riley by a long shot. Hope she gets to sing more solos.
Would it be wrong to say that I actually like this pairing?
The stereotype thing would be that she gets some tall hot "stud" aka Sam. And then no substance at all apart from the fact that Sam is homeless and Mercedes is always shoved to the side by the rest of the girls, except for Tina and Lauren.
Not all kids have washboard abs and pecs. Some of them are chubby, or plump like say Mercedes, Lauren and now, LaMarcus... though I hope they drop the La... unless they make some reverse gender Napoleon Dynamite joke. :D
So there, I like this new guy. >_>; Actually quite cute, more so than Dave Karofsky and Azimo. Even if they are the bullies.
