'Dancing With the Stars': Oddsmakers favor Elisabetta Canalis, not Chaz Bono or Nancy Grace
If you frequent an off-track betting facility that takes wagers on the outcome of ABC's "Dancing With the Stars," please tell us where that is... and you might want to pay close attention to the these numbers.
Oddsmakers at Bodog.com, who successfully favored Season 12 victor NFL wide receiver Hines Ward early in the competition, has released its stats on the recently announced Season 13 cast. The favorites might catch you a bit off guard, but the long-shots only seem to validate our suspicions.
The least likely seem to be Chaz Bono, the series' first transgender contestant, and TV judge Nancy Grace, who have been placed at 20/1 and 18/1, respectively.
Up at the top, there's model, actress and George Clooney ex Elisabetta Canalis with 3/1, followed closely by former "Queer Eye" star Carson Kressley (4/1) and "Hills" alum Kristin Cavallari (5/1). [Editor's note: That trio would surely make for the most bizarre finale in "DWTS" history.]
These odds, released Tuesday (Aug. 30), might stand a little tweaking after Wendesday's announcement of the pro pairings. Returning cast member Derek Hough, who sat out last season after winning his third mirrorball trophy, doesn't seem likely to let partner Ricki Lake go as soon she's predicted to leave.
And Canalis might have an uphill battle working with newcomer Val Chmerkovskiy. Audiences aren't terribly familiar with either of them -- though can you imagine what Maks would do if his little brother won the title before him?
Here's the complete list of odds:
Elisabetta Canalis - 3/1
Carson Kressley - 4/1
Kristin Cavallari - 5/1
Chynna Phillips - 6/1
Robert Kardashian - 15/2
Hope Solo - 8/1
David Arquette - 10/1
Ron Artest - 10/1
J.R. Martinez - 12/1
Ricki Lake - 15/1
Nancy Grace - 18/1
Chaz Bono - 20/1
Have any early favorites? And how do you think the pro partners might affect their chances?

As a DWTS fan, I am perplexed what the odd makers see that I am not seeing. First, Elisabetta is more well known in Italy. Only thing most know of her here is being George Clooney's ex girlfriend. I don't doubt that she won't dance well. However, will she be able to connect with the audience? With such personalities like Nancy, Ricki, David and even Ron, Elisabetta has her work cut out. Also, I really think the odd makers are underestimating Ricki and David. With their Pros being Derek and Kym it should change.
How can they place Nancy Grace down so low??? Do you equate intelligence with poor dancing because she obviously attends social events that require dancing !!!
Thank you for not picking Snookie because if I wanted to see dogs dance, I would go on youtube !!!
Hope Solo should be much higher
Watching for the sexy italian. My gawd. But yea she will be good but she doesn't speak good english. She is very funny and charming but this is a chick show
Chicks tend to hate
This is the year I stop watching, and not just because of the transgender inclusion in the show. I thought they were trying to get more popular celebrities as the show's popularity grew? This cast is about as not interesting as they have ever had. Maybe they are waiting to bring on the popular ones when they go head to head against Idol in the winter/fall... I don't know, but I bet the rating take a hit with this cast like never before.
Poor Elisabetta is just trying her best. It was her face dance. So many people are really nasty and rude all over the internet about her. I think she seems so tiny, harmless and cute how can you be mean ? It's like shooting the Easter Bunny. I love Chaz and Carson, they make the show great. I hope that athlete women gets voted off, she does not have the charm or the face for it. I'm not being mean I just mean, she seems too much like an athlete in fact I wish they would STOP putting these wooden looking athletes on. It's always painful and boring to watch...they are usually so huge it is ludicrous.
