'America's Got Talent': Four advance, Wild Cards announced
This week we had the 12 YouTube acts on "America's Got Talent." I read a lot of comments last night that they didn't think it was that strong. I really thought it was - no one act blew me completely away, but it was all of their first time doing this show. I just thought it was really strong top to bottom, which you cannot say about any other quarterfinals nights.Anyway, the first group brought down is Gymkana and Powerhouse, the show choir. Gymkana is much stronger, I hope they advance. And they do! Excellent.
I shall not be recapping the "Chocolate Rain" performance by Tay Zonday, other than to say that his smile will haunt my dreams. Pure nightmare fuel.
Now it's Keenan Cahill, the kid who became famous for lip-syncing "Teenage Dream." Yeah, bleep bleep bleep.
And now it's OK Go. Oh my god, how many people are ON this show tonight?!
Back to results, finally. TNC Elite, Matt Wilhelm and Aeon. Hmm. I'm not sure. My vote is for TNC Elite, but it could go to any of them. Matt Wilhem advances! Wow, good for him. Not my favorite, honestly, but that's cool for him.
Now Rebecca Black is here, performing that godawful "Friday" song and being a terrible singer because she actually is fairly lacking in vocal ability. I want to stab myself.
The next group of results is Brett Daniels, Breena Bell, Kevin Colis and Kalani. I'm going to guess only Kevin advances. And then that's what happens. Yep.
So the final group is West Springfield Dance Team, Gabe the Bulldog and Beth Ann Robinson. Obviously the bulldog is out. So the judges' choice is between group dancing or solo dancing. Now, talent-wise - I think Beth Ann far outstrips the West Springfield crew. BUT - for this show and the format and entertainment value, I think West Springfield is better. So I'm really fine either way.
But first - more stupid internet performers. Good god.
Finally the judges vote. Piers votes for Beth, Sharon votes for West Springfield and Howie votes for Beth Ann! Cool. I'm actually surprised at that turn out, but I'm very pleased for her.
And then Sharon invites West Springfield back as her Wild Card choice, so good for them. The other Wild Cards are: Landon Swank, The Kinetic King, Summerwind Skippers, Charles Peachock, Yellow Design Stunt Team, Shevonne, J. Chris Newberg, Those Funny Little People, Seth Grabel, The Fiddleheads and Avery and the Calico Hearts. Hmm. I'm happy with that group except for the Funny Little People. And I also don't remember Shevonne at all. What's that about?
What say you, "AGT" fans?

I think Shevonne was the blonde singer that got cut in the judge's favorites.
If they don't blow it, it does look like a pretty strong wild card show.
I wasn't a fan of tonight's show. Usually skip a lot of the show when they announce the acts that advanced. I'm really excited for next week. They brought back a lot of acts that I thought were great and I wanted to advance.
Alex is right, I looked it up on wikipedia and she's a singer who got cut in Vegas.
HOLY SH**! What is wrong with these judges!? They brought back the not-so-Funny Little People and Kinetic Cr*p for the wild card round!? There have to have been better acts than them that didn't get through. Those were two of the worst acts of the season that shouldn't have even gotten past the Vegas round. I think Howie and Sharon should be replaced next year because it seems that those two love the bad acts for some odd reason.
I doubt Howie and Sharon are going to get fired. They didn't pick these acts. The producers did. Yes, there is a lot of silliness between the judges, but it is manufactured conflict to add drama where there otherwise would be none. Don't blame the judges -- they're just following the script. Blame the producers.
That said, I agree... there's no excuse for bringing back acts like popsicle stick man, (allegedly) Funny Little People, Seth the creepy magician. I'm just happy they didn't give Dani Shay a third chance.
Actually the Judge Brought back these acts, not the Producers.
Please. I'm sure you also believe the judges screened the thousands of YouTube acts, just as Nick said.
And I'm sure Sharon's "decision" to give the Springfield dancers a wild card was completely spontaneous.
But, yes, technically, you're right. The judges brought back the acts -- after the producers told them who to choose.
the producers cannot rig a show - that's a law. you can think what you want, but it's not true.
If the producers falsified the voting results, that might be considered rigging. But there's nothing illegal about producers making casting decisions -- or requiring the judges to submit their picks to the producers for their approval -- and having the judges take credit for those decisions.
if they said that the ;producers were picking 3 acts , i wouldn't have a problem with that, but i still think the judges picked all 12.
