'Torchwood': Return to Starz could take a while
"Torchwood: Miracle Day" has performed fairly well for Starz in its first few weeks, and it's earned mostly positive reviews. But its future is anything but assured.Starz CEO Chris Albrecht says the show's future will depend largely on creator Russell T. Davies and whether -- and how soon -- he wants to return to the material.
"'Torchwood' is not one of the shows we went into thinking about a yearly return," Albrecht told reporters Friday (July 29) at the Television Critics Association press tour. Davies, he notes, "has a lot of things on his plate. If 'Torchwood' is at the top of his list, that will affect the future of 'Torchwood.'"
A longer-than-typical wait between seasons of "Torchwood" wouldn't be unprecedented: Two years passed between the airing of "Children of Earth" and the premiere of "Miracle Day." In his former gig as head of HBO, Albrecht also dealt with protracted delays between seasons of shows like "The Sopranos" and "Curb Your Enthusiasm."
Are you willing to wait for more "Torchwood"?

In the UK it's not uncommon for shows to take a year or two off between seasons, so no I don't mind if Torchwood takes its time coming back. Quality over quantity.
I really enjoy Torchwood especially since Friday night is the worst when it comes to programming.
If Starz is not confident in the series, then let Showtime have it.
Actually, I'd rather see Torchwood on BBC, but I understand that there are financial considerations. Of the pay cable channels, it seems more suited to Starz or HBO. As for timing, I think many TW fans (including me) tend to be oriented to the central mythology of Doctor Who (which is also known to take a season or 15 off), so I just enjoy it all as "event" programming, more than "series" programming. (Although I wouldn't mind seeing it every year, I accept that it doesn't work that way.) The mythos is more like that of superheroes, and appears in multiple genres, so there is usually interesting stuff going on in between programs, like graphic novels and novels.
I finally did a marathon of the first five episodes of Torchwood Miracle Day. I miss the rest of the Torchwood team. I was surprised by how one dimensional most of the US characters appear to be. I am not sure if that is the acting or the writing. I will stick it out till the end of this series, but they should have stopped at Children of the Earth.
love touchwood and jack and gwen but rex and esther have to go.
but want to see more of gwen and capt. jack .
I have watched Torchwood each week. I would like to say I enjoy the series. I have never seen the BBC version, but the Starz story line is very intriguing.
That being said, I will no longer be watching a great series because the writers are making Jack's sex scenes too explicit and pivotal to the plotline. It appears it's for shock value. I have yet to see any heterosexual sex scenes that are important to the plot. It seems as though this series has become a soap box for someone on the writing team. I tried to ignore it at first, but this last episode was my final show.
Believe me, I am not a prude, but neither am I a fan of in-your-face pornography. It is a shame that you can no longer enjoy a good story without someone trying to give you a lesson in sexual social etiquette. I don't need to see ANY graphic flesh on flesh to get the point.
What people don't seem to understand is that the Character of Jack is bisexual and very open about his sexuality (and actually works pretty good), though in Starz! they seem to depict him as homosexual.
@ Disappointed:
While you may choose to be offended by what you see, for me it was a very emotional experience to watch Jack tenderly seduce this man who had so much fear, religion and self-doubt and bring it to a tender conclusion. Where or not this would/could shod have been done with clothes on or off is immaterial to me. It was all about the acting and the acknowledgement of acceptance of self. Was your first real seduction that romantic and personal?
