'The X Factor' wants Mariah Carey on the show full-time

mariah-carey-x-factor-gi.jpgMariah Carey's as-yet-unspecified role on the American version of "The X Factor" is perhaps turning into an even bigger (but still unspecified) part.

Back in April, "X Factor" creator/judge Simon Cowell said that Carey would be "involved in some form" with the talent competition, which premieres Sept. 21 on FOX. He said at the time that Carey had an idea to "judge the judges," whatever that means.

Just what Carey will do on the show is still up in the air, but it sounds like her presence is a little more of a sure thing now. "Mariah and Simon are great friends, and now [that] she has had her babies, it's very possible that she will be involved [in] some way in the later stages of the show," an "X Factor" source tells EW. "She has always said she wanted to work with the show."

EW also says that Carey may serve as a mentor to the contestants. If that turns out to be the case, we'll be curious to see how that works. "The X Factor's" format typically has each judge coaching a group of contestants.

Would Carey rotate between the groups of singers? Would she, in fact, judge the judges? Pending an official word from FOX in the coming weeks, we'll see where she fits in come September.

They should dump Nicole and have Mariah be a judge.

Mariah would be a good judge. Timing was off because of her having children.
But I'd like to see her mentor as well. If I remember, she was pretty good with the contestants on American Idol.

She'd be a heck of a lot better than Jennifer "it doesn't matter if you're singing in key all the time" Lopez. (something I still can't believe a judge on a singing competition actually said)

Steve! Well! I am not a fan of J'Lo but judging a singing competition doesn't mean that you really have to be superior in singing... Look at simom cowell(best example)...

Mimi is just to fat and annoying to be on tv, she isnt as pretty and talented as JLO and Paula Abdul. Sad how mimi will make a fool of herself on this show and prob because she is so lazy just become more of a pig as the season goes by.

JLO has a much better voice and agreat slim body compared to that PIG mimi. Mimi used to have a voice but through singing those high notes and her personal decisions of eating too muh, has lost it all, but the extra 100 pounds of weight she packed on, lol, poor fat monster thing.
