'The Vampire Diaries' relationship status update: It's complicated

There are sixty-five days until we finally get to see the Season 3 premiere of "The Vampire Diaries." Not that we're counting or anything.In the meantime, our only source of happiness is dissecting every last spoiler we can sink our teeth into. The latest news leaked from set is that a new werewolf will tangle with Klaus in Tennessee. TV Line reports that "7th Heaven's" David Gallagher, who also had a fun role in this summer's totally awesome "Super 8," has been cast as Ray, a werewolf who tangles with Klaus (Joseph Morgan).
Ray meets Klaus in Tennessee -- perhaps on the ripper road trip? -- and their encounter isn't exactly a friendly one. We know Klaus's ultimate goal is to build himself an army of wolf/vamp hybrids so that he can conquer both warring species, so we're guessing that Ray, who appears in 2 episodes, will factor into that quest.
Meanwhile, back in Mystic Falls...According to E!, a new character named Becky is enrolling at Mystic Falls High. She's a vampire who has a romantic history with Stefan (Paul Wesley), and she's out to "put herself in his path, reclaim his love and eliminate her rivals."
From that description, she sounds an awful lot like one Katherine Pierce to us, particularly given the rumor that she'll have it out for our favorite vampire barbie, Caroline (Candice Accola). The key difference, though, is that Katherine knew Stefan as a carefree kid, while Becky and Stefan hooked up during his bloody "ripper" phase.
We don't think Elena (Nina Dobrev) will appreciate Becky's interference, especially considering the new responsibilities she's taking on. Season 3 premieres on her birthday, according to TV Guide, and at 18, Elena is now in charge of her brother Jeremy. (R.I.P. Aunt Jenna!)
While Becky is meddling, executive producer Julie Plec says that Elena "will be struggling with a deep, deep attraction toward Damon" (Ian Somerhalder). It's about time!
Of course, these morsels of information just leave us wanting more. If Becky is playing high school student, does that mean Stefan will be back in time for class to start? Will he be able to keep it together in fourth period now that he's off the blood wagon again? So far, we haven't seen him so much as consider another woman, but maybe the human blood in his belly will help him forget about his whole true-love-forever shtick.
If Elena and Stefan's relationship falls apart this season - which, let's face it, it's bound to - will Becky be the catalyst, or will Elena be forced to admit that her attraction to Damon is getting in the way?
Now that Morgan is a series regular, how will Klaus be integrated into the day-to-day happenings in Mystic Falls? (We vote that he gets elected Mayor, by the way. There's nothing like a villain who is also the HBIC.)

This article is so biased, it's bullshit. Not everyone thinks Damon and Elena should be together. You are supposed to be writing about the show not your apparent opinion on what you think is the end all ****.
I mean, first and foremost, I'm gonna be honest here...I just care about Damon and Elena...call me a stupid crazy fangirl but everyone has a favorite part of a tv show , right? Well theyre my favorite part!!
And i just really want this ripper storyline to last. Pdubs does such a good job when he goes psycho and this season better not have wasted opportunities like it did last season!!
Don't really care about Becky character, I feel like theyre just introducing her to give Caroline a SL other than the relationship she's bound to have with Tyler.
Don't care about the werewolf army thing with Klaus either. I just want to see Stefan beyond smashed and partying it up!!!
And of course, no more Stelena ever again. Theyre so boring and nauseating :/ Theyre even worse than Andie and Pacey were on Dawson's Creek and for me to make such a comparison is monumental because I hated Andie/Pacey SOOOOO FREAKING MUCH.
Also, I just want to see more Jerbear in season 3. He is the Sam Winchester of TVD. He's also my precious baby and i love him!! to be honest, his relationship with Bonnie puts me to tears but I am really excited for the SL with vicki and anna.
Ugh! This next season is going to suck if I have to sit through Delena and watch this new chick go after bloodlusting Stefan. I understand that Stelena can't be together all the time because that would get boring, but I'm hoping they won't be apart the entire season. Hope Katherine is still around, so I can have a little enjoyment out of the show. LOL!
LOL. Klaus as a mayor. I'd want to see that.
Also, Katherine! I really hope she doesn't vanishes forever or something, cause she's just the most awesome character ever.
And Drunk Ripper Stefan partying with Klaus. Please, God, let this happen. Klefan ftw.
Ok, I like the idea of Klaus running into a werewolf not willing to jump aboard the new race train. Disappointed that Ric won't be the Gilbert's guardian. I just really liked that theory and it makes more sense than Elena being in charge at this time. I'm going to reserve judgment on this new vamp Rebecca. We all know how Rose turned out. I liked Rose and was just starting to like her a bit. She really got Damon and understood and didn't judge him. she accepted him for who he was and knew underneath he was a good guy. I digress, not chopping at the bit about this new vamp, I want the originals. So Vamp Barbie kick vamp Becky's ***, oh please. Last, there needs to be Damon and Elena because what would be the point of TVD. This is about a girl inlove with two brother's who happen to be vampires. It is time otherwise no point in watching the show if it's always about Elena and Stefan and their so call "epic love", I'm older so I don't suffer from it's meant to be syndrom. I hope they really play out Stefan turn toward his true nature (vampire) especially for Paul Wesley he does bad guy really well. Ad let's be honest, the character Stefan can get a bit boring and pompous. I hope for ian's and Damons sake they bring back our bad boy full tilt. You can be the good guy but still wear black. And quit making this character into a town joke. Damon is suppose be quick,sly, smart, devious,reckless yes, but he usually ends up being right. Oh and don't forget a heart that is beautiful and fragile. A sad character for all the people that has betrayed him over and over. Amazing he not a psychopath. Vampire wise he a pretty in control kind of guy. Last do not tie up the Ripper story line in 2 or 3 episodes because really that just won't play.
Elena is actually going acknowledge to herself that she's attracted to Damon? And will have to fight said attraction? Oh, thank you TV Gods. It's about freakin' time. I don't know about this Becky...just the name itself does nothing for me. No offense to Becky's everywhere.
Honestly, I hope Stefan isn't back in episode 2/3 jeez. That would be a waste of storyline right there. And I'm one of the few who think they'll screw up the ripper storyline Let's be honest the writers don't take risks with Stefan/SE. Obviously the ripper s/l isn't gonna have a negative impact on their oh-so-epic love. Just wait and see.
I want Delena to be perfectly done. Seriously, they screwd them up last season and I can't take it anymore. Please writers if you're reading this bring back season 1 Delena. Pleasee.
