'The Vampire Diaries' introducing new hunter: Uh-oh!

Sarah Michelle Gellar is returning to TV this fall, but it looks like there's a new vampire slayer in town. TVLine reports that "The Vampire Diaries" producers are introducing Eric, a hunter who is like "Indiana Jones with a stake instead of a whip." He'll be middle-aged and good-looking (on The CW? Shocking!).Our question is this: What about Alaric (Matt Davis)? He was introduced as a history teacher by day, vampire hunter by night. Still, we haven't seen him do too much slaying aside from that time he killed Elijah, which didn't exactly stick. We're guessing that Eric won't be easily swayed to Team Salvatore, especially with Stefan (Paul Wesley) back on the sauce.
Speaking of the ripper (rippahhh?), our favorite Mystic Falls residents will have a singular focus when Season 3 begins on Sept. 15. "We've got a lot of stuff to kick us off, the first of which obviously being, where Stefan is," executive producer Julie Plec tells us. "Is he alive? Is he dead? How can we find him? How can we help him? How can we save him? And ultimately, can he be, or does he want to be saved?"

I think it'll be nice to see a human hunt the vampires instead of bigger, badder vampires or werewolves hunting vampires all the time. He'll probably die within 4 episodes anyway, knowing the way this show likes to do things.
And hey, Alaric killed Logan that one time. That's gotta count for something, right?
I want Alaric to be the big bad Indian Jones Vampire Slayer going up against Klaus to help Damon retrieve Stefan. I am sure Klaus has an army of vampires and werewolves to slay before getting to him.
ohh so he did kill a vampire. i couldn't remember if he really did other than saying he was a vampire hunter.
do all vampire hunter's names end in ric? alaric, eric... where else could they go with that?
This vampire slayer sounds rather goofy. Comic relief? I guess that fits because the heroes on this show are the vampires.
anyhow i'm sure the writers of TVD will "wow" us! :) i just wnt more light on alaric this season.. pls he's good, don't make him like vampire's pet.
The only vampire hunter I want around is Alaric...who clearly isn't looking to kill any of my fav vamps :) But the real Vampire Hunter on this show has been Elijah. That guy took out so many vamps I lost count ;)
Not crazy about the idea of a new Vampire Hunter but maybe Liz Forbes can romance him and keep him off Caroline's trail. That actress deserves a meatier storyline.
