'Spartacus: Vengeance' teaser: Meet the new Spartacus

By the standards the show has previously set, this teaser for "Spartacus: Vengeance" is rather tame.

Not to worry, though: Starz also screened a full version of the "Vengeance" trailer at Comic-Con, and the new season promises to be just as bloody and bawdy as the previous seasons. If you weren't in San Diego over the weekend, you can catch the full trailer at midnight ET Friday (July 29) on Starz.

The 30-second teaser does, however, offer up a look at Liam McIntyre as Spartacus. He stepped into the role after Andy Whitfield departed to undergo cancer treatment. While there's not a lot to go on here, McIntyre, like Whitfield, cuts a pretty imposing figure on screen, and he gets to deliver the famous "I am Spartacus" line.

"Spartacus: Vengeance" is set to premiere on Starz in January.
