'South Park': Bigger, Longer and Renewed through 2013

south-park-cheesy-poofs.jpgIt's been quite the summer for Matt Stone and Trey Parker. First they win nine Tony Awards including Best Musical for "The Book of Mormon." Then they secure a deal to bring Cartman's favorite snack -- Cheesy Poofs -- to a Wal-Mart near you. And on Wednesday (July 20) Comedy Central decides to keep "South Park" on the schedule through 2013.

According to a report from EW, the cable network has reached an agreement with Stone and Parker to extend "South Park's" run through a 17th season. In addition the long-running animated series has set the debut date for the second half of Season 15 for Oct. at 10 p.m. ET.

The show, which began in 1997, has aired more than 200 episodes and spawned a movie ("South Park - Bigger, Longer and Uncut") that delivered a worldwide gross of $83 million and an Oscar nomination.

No word yet on the nutritional information for the Cheesy Poofs.

And here I thought The Simpsons passing Season 20 was going to be the last time we ever saw this happen. South Park looks set to at least make that milestone.

David, check your facts again, please. I have them returning on Wednesday the 5th of October, not the 15th.

They must be doing something right to be lasting this long.

How long do I have to wait for another movie? I know the first one was PERFECT, but I was 18 when the movie came out. I don't want to be a 40 year old going to see a South Park movie in theaters, but I will if I have to.
