'So You Think You Can Dance' results: Ryan and Alexander knocked out of competition
"So You Think You Can Dance" isn't just any old dance reality show. It's an Emmy-nominated show. On Thursday (July 14), host Cat Deeley snagged her first Emmy nom, which Nigel Lythgoe declared "long overdue. The show also picked up seven more nominations -- five of them for choreographed numbers. But, no surprise here, there wasn't any sign of an inflated ego slowing Cat down as she led us through yet another results show. This time the top 12 faced elimination just one week before partners are split up -- Oh no! Melanie and Marko! -- and the all stars are added in to the mix.
The three couples in this week's bottom three: Caitlynn and Mitchell, Ryan and Ricky and (shocker!) Sasha and Alexander.
All danced for their life, but we didn't get to find out who would go home until after erstwhile Pussycat Doll and soon-to-be "X Factor" judge Nicole Scherzinger performed her new single, "Right There." Well done, especially the bits where she mimicked a three-year-old: "Me like the way that you're dancing."
But, even the most energetic and leggy guests only delay the inevitable. Finally, we got to the elimination.
So, who went home?
The judges were unanimous in sending Ryan home.
"Ryan," said top judge Nigel Lythgoe, "we felt as though you were a little lackluster last night and I don't think we felt that you did your solo as well as we know you can dance this evening. You seem down and depressed."
Well she is now.
On to the boys.
Despite "finding himself" in Wednesday evening's competition, Alexander lost his slot tonight. Marking, it should be noted, the first time dancers from different pairs were eliminated from the show this season.
"Tonight your solo let you down very badly technically," said Nigel. "There were so many things that went wrong. Even though last night you really showed us what you can do, tonight you will be going home."
On to the all-stars.

i think the judges made a good decision on ryan but i don't know about alexander. everytime i see ryan i get bored easily so they did the right thing by sending her home.
I agree Jenny, I never cared for Ryan, but I don't think the judges really liked Alex. If you ask me Ricky could've left with Ryan.
I thought Alex gave the best solo and his body of work exceeded the others - I was shocked !
Sasha is awesome.. Ricky is awesome..and Mitchell is super awesome.. **all the black pl**
How convenient that Alexander dropped into the bottom three so that the judges could eliminate him from the tour, after he and Sasha had consistently been among the top 2 or 3 couples. Shame on Ryan for having such a sour face during all of the results show, just because she knew she was going to be eliminated.
How silly is Dancing for Your Life? It has absolutely no bearing on whom the judges decide to cut. Nigel may pretend like it matters, but get real. He just uses it as a tool. When it's borderline, he praises the one he wants to keep and berates the one he will cut, although how often do we disagree with his assessment? Nigel also likes to chastise a bit the ones whom he he knows he will keep. Dance for Your Life should instead be labeled the Farewell Swan Song, as this will be the last time two of them will dance on the show.
ok alexander should NOT have been eliminated!!! i loved him and sasha together. the judges r jerks who all just agree with each other THANK goodness for jesse being a judge he would actually say what he believed. and they r always alexander u disappointed us and they were like u finally broke out of your shell but its the choreographers fault because they never gave him any freedom to show what he can do. i thought he was an awesome dancer
No, Alexander should have been eliminated. He was the weakest dancer remaining, and the judges saw to it that he became vulnerable to be eliminated.
What was the name of the song that was playing during Alexander's elimination video montage?
