'So You Think You Can Dance' results: Jess and Jordan's journey ends
And then there were eight. Or, after Thursday's (July 28) episode of "So You Think You Can Dance," six. We won't bother recapping the on-air recap of Wednesday's competition night because that isn't what you want. You want to know about the solos, about Gaga and find out who went home and we aim to please.First the solos:
A faux-hawked Jordan did her usual sexed-up routine. Stronger, but still the same basic concept -- a stripper who can actually dance. Enough already.
Jess opted for fingerless gloves, suspenders and a Broadway standard, "Mack the Knife." What can we say? The guy spun in a circle for at least 15 of his alotted 30 seconds, then stood looking defiantly at the crowd like Robert DeNiro menacing his opponent in "Raging Bull." Attitude much?
Caitlynn tried the sexy thing, too, but we're not going to chastise her for it because it hasn't been her go-to thing all summer.
Tadd delivered another fun and gravity-defying positively positive hip-hop routine. If he goes home, it could ruin our weekend. We're positive.
Gaga-licious:
She performed "Edge of Glory" and "You and I" and, well, it wasn't shocking. There was no meat dress, no bizarro props -- just a solid peformance. If anything, it seemed a little low energy right after watching Tadd's stunts.
And the results:
Jordan and Jess are alliteratively out, though, as Nigel said all "the dancers are going on into the tour and we'll see them there."
But first, two more weeks of competition.

Yeah, you're right. Jess just spun in place. And changed the position of the spin several times. And was precise, and energetic, and engaging. He displayed an attitude appropriate to the character of the song. He told a story in 30 seconds. What can we say?
I'm sorry that Jess was eliminated this week. I was hoping he'd make it to the Top 6. He brought a different energy and perspective from the other guys that I found refreshing. Tad's solo was total showman, and he clearly nailed it in the judges' eyes, though I didn't see much dancing but high-flying tricks throughout the 30 seconds. I suppose I was thinking Ricky was doomed this week, given Nigel's (who I've found to be utterly annoying this season - how many times must he make reference to B-Boys and no choreo ... we're Top 8, Lithgoe - a b-boy had better have learned to master choreo by now or something's wrong) endless berating of his two numbers. We all knew that Marko, Melanie and Sasha are destined for the finale, so no surprise there. All in all, I have to say that this season is one of the freshest and competitive in quite a while. I'm loving it.
Unfortunately it was obvious the minute Jess and Tadd were in the bottom two who would be going home. The Judges are not subtle about who they will save, it was clear they were in Tadd's corner. I mean, look at the package for him. Tadd is a great dancer, deserves the spot, but come on. Jess is light as air. He floats on his feet like the greats (Gene Kelly anyone?). He's an amazing talent and they kept harping on silly things like his mugging. He's a theatre geek boys. He's a little awkward, but as a dancer, heads and shoulders above most of the others.
And also, I kept waiting for a reference to the fact that alum Mark is a Gaga backup dancer now and was there with her last night, but no one even mentioned it. I wonder why. It's such a cool thing, they should be proud of helping make that happen and give the current dancers hope something similar can happen for them.
No mention of Mark being there with Gaga. So weird. They should want to highlight how their dancers have gone on to greater things beyond just those who found success in the SYTYCD world (such as Travis and Pasha). I would love a "where are they know" hour for the show. I always get excited when I see someone on Glee or as a backup dancer for someone's show.
