Sara Bareilles to replace Nicole Scherzinger on 'The Sing-Off'
So long, Nicole Scherzinger. Hello, Sara Bareilles!The singer-songwriter is set to replace the new "X-Factor" judge on "The Sing-Off" as a celebrity judge when the NBC reality show returns this fall. Bareilles joins Ben Folds and Shawn Stockman on the judging panel.
"I'm extremely excited to be joining the panel of judges for 'The Sing-Off' this fall," Bareilles says. "A cappella music is very near and dear to my heart, and I have been a huge fan of the show from the beginning. I love the opportunity to be a part of something that celebrates a genre of music that I just adore and believe in. I can't wait for it to start."
"I love the fact that on this show, the judges are so rooted in the world the preside over," Paul Telegdy, Executive Vice President, Alternative Programming, NBC and Universal Media Studios, says. "Simply put, they can do what the contestants are doing and that means a lot. Sara will bring a sublime technical knowledge and huge appreciation for 'The Sing-Off.' She's a fan and we're thrilled she's coming on board."
Bareilles has won three Grammys and is currently opening for Sugarland on their summer tour.

Very good choice. She did a great job singing with the contestants last season, and has experience in the world she's judging. Nicole is a great performer, but not a technical singer. I think she is better suited for her new gig.
Sara Bareilles is so talented that Sugarland should be opening for her. Sara is a great choice to replace Nicole Scherzinger, but anybody could have replaced her. Nicole is a good dancer and decent singer, but she's a horrible judge. With Sara onboard and with Ben and Shawn returning, this should be a good season... if the show can survive being a Fall show.
The Sing Off should be following in the foot steps of another reality hit on NBC: The Voice now that Sara Bareilles replace Nicole Scherzinger but I don't know how she will fare with her new gig on X Factor.
