'Prime Suspect' adds 'The Shield's' Kenny Johnson to cast

kenny-johsnon-gi.jpgNBC's "Prime Suspect" has added a new face to its cast, one who knows his way around crime shows.

Kenny Johnson ("The Shield," "Saving Grace") has been cast in the new series, but not as a cop: He'll play Detective Jane Timoney's (Maria Bello) boyfriend, according to The Hollywood Reporter. He replaces British actor Toby Stephens, who played the part in the pilot.

Johnson is also set to continue his recurring part on "Sons of Anarchy" this season. "SOA" creator (and former "Shield" writer-producer) Kurt Sutter tweeted late Thursday that Johnson would appear in four more episodes as Kozik, a member of a different Sons of Anarchy chapter.

"Prime Suspect" also stars Aidan Quinn ("Unknown"), Kirk Acevedo ("Fringe"), Brian F. O'Byrne ("Mildred Pierce"), Joe Nieves ("How I Met Your Mother") and Peter Gerety ("Rubicon," "Brothers & Sisters"). It's scheduled to premiere Thursday, Sept. 22 on NBC.

I will miss Kirk Acevedo on Fringe now that he's on Prime Suspect.

Is there a chance Chuck could move to a different network? USA, Syfy are doing these kind of shows and would benefit from an established show.

NBC, you suck! I was looking forward to seeing Toby Stephens on screen again. Another reason not to watch an NBC show.
