'Man vs. Wild': Jake Gyllenhaal's Icelandic adventure sneak peek videos

Actor Jake Gyllenhaal joined "Man vs. Wild" and star Bear Grylls for an Icelandic adventure in the season premiere. The episode airs Monday, July 11, but we've got some sneak peek videos of their time trekking over Iceland's mountains, volcanoes and glaciers.

In the first clip, the men are "roping up" to each other so that should one of them fall through the snow and ice into a crevasse, the partner could pull the fallen one up. In the second clip, Jake faces his fear by crawling on a rope across a very deep ravine. Yikes.

We can't help but wonder if he's flashing back to "The Day After Tomorrow" with some of this stuff. Heh. Do you suppose they encounter a pack of rabid wolves on their adventure?

"Man vs. Wild" airs Monday nights at 9 p.m. ET on Discovery.
