Katie Couric guest-hosting 'The View'; 'Happily Divorced' gets a second season on TV Land

katie-couric-getty.jpgA variety plate of TV snacks for your consumption today, including news on Ryan Seacrest, producer, and a cable-TV milestone:

Katie Couric's first official act as an employee of ABC will be to guest-host "The View" on Aug. 3. She joined the network last month and will host a daytime talk show of her own starting in 2012. [ABC]

TV Land has picked up a second season of its Fran Drescher sitcom "Happily Divorced" to air next spring. The show has been a decent performer so far, averaging about 2.2 million viewers per episode. [TV Land]

Ryan Seacrest will produce a new reality series for Bravo called "Shahs of Sunset." It follows a group of young Persian-Americans as they, and we quote, "try to balance their active social lives with their up-and-coming careers. Armed with chromed-out cars, logo-ridden purses and designer outfits, they've got it and they're not afraid to flaunt it." Programming about rich people on Bravo? How novel. [Bravo]

Jere Burns, late of "Breaking Bad" and "Justified," is joining USA's "Burn Notice" in a recurring part. He'll appear in at least five episodes as a psychologist who's worked with spies in the past and who's forced to cough up information when his wife is kidnapped. [Deadline]

MTV's new comedy "Awkward" got off to a decent start Tuesday night (July 19). The show scored 1.7 million viewers and led its time period among its target demographic of female teens and young women. [MTV]

The 30th anniversary of MTV going live will be celebrated ... on VH1 Classic, which will air a three-day marathon of classic programming starting Saturday, July 30. At midnight July 31, you can rewatch MTV's first hour, which kicked off with the Buggles' "Video Killed the Radio Star." [VH1 Classic]

Katie Couric should not be admired. Katie did a special on how kids should take psyche drugs. Now, there are over 300,000 babies that will never have a life because of the drugs. Katie contributed to 300,000 deaths and that is only the beginning. Katie put money before integerity! I truly hope her bad karma hits her bad!

If Katie Couric becomes a part of The View, then I am out. Come on, ABC, you can do better than that.

People, they said she was guest hosting for one day. She is going to have her own talk show next year.
