Jason Ritter returns to 'Parenthood,' plus his very own show!

jason-ritter2-event-320.jpgFirst, let us say, if you haven't seen NBC's "Parenthood," we highly recommend that you catch up before Season 3 premieres on Sept. 13. The show is, more or less, perfect. We're completely in love with every character, every episode makes us cry, and we just really want the Bravermans to adopt us as soon as possible.

Okay, now that we've completed our gush-fest, we've got great news for those of you who are already "Parenthood" fans -- and those of you who will be, soon. Jason Ritter is coming back! The actor was featured heavily in the first season as Lauren Graham's love interest, and Mae Whitman's teacher. He left the show for a starring role on "The Event," but when that didn't exactly work out, he did make a brief return in Season 2.

TVLine reports that Ritter will be back for multiple episodes early in Season 3. But wait! It gets better.

Ritter has signed a development deal with NBC and "Parenthood" boss Jason Katims, who also made magic on "Friday Night Lights." It's likely to be an hour-long drama and it's likely to be absolutely phenomenal. We don't know anything about it yet, but we're already planning to set our DVRs.
