'Glee': Idina Menzel returns in a big way
We still have yet to meet Rachel's two dads on "Glee," but we'll be seeing a lot more of her mom in the coming season.Idina Menzel, who appeared in five episodes of the show's first season, will return for Season 3. And while at first blush it sounds like co-creator Ryan Murphy is already going back on the no-guest-stars pledge he made a few weeks ago, that may not necessarily be the case.
Why? Because Menzel will be around for about half the season. Deadline reports that she's signed on for as many as 10 or 12 episodes, and her character, Shelby Corcoran, will take a teaching job at McKinley High School.
When we last saw Shelby, she had adopted Quinn's (Dianna Agron) baby, said goodbye to Rachel (Lea Michele) -- whom she had given up for adoption as a teenager -- and headed off to New York. Her return (along with the baby's, we're presuming) will make life more complicated for Rachel and Will (Matthew Morrison), who had a fling with Shelby when she was the coach of Vocal Adrenaline.
There's no word yet on when Menzel will make her first appearance on "Glee's" third season, which premieres Sept. 20.
What do you think of the news? How do you think it will affect Will, Rachel and the rest of the characters?

I think it will have more of an effect on Quinn than on Will.
But....but, how is she going to be able to sing a song with Kristen Chenowith?
I am glad that she is coming back for a big chunk of the season. I am looking forward to seeing how this affects Rachel, and I desperately want a scene with Finn and Rachel where they discuss her issues with Shelby, and a scene where Finn expresses his love forRachel to Shelby, telling her he is not okay with the way Shelby has treated Rachel in the past. I am also looking forward to, hopefully, a storyline between Puck and Quinn now that Beth is back
Nooooo! Season 3 is gonna suck!
I love her, but HATE glee.
Awesome! She was wonderful in season one, so I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with her this time.
This is truly good news. I'm really interested to see where the producers go with this.
This is going to be just horrible - further the decline of a crappy Season 2......typical Ryan Murphy fashion. That'll free up an hour to watch something actually good.....
ryan murphy is an idiot. no guest stars and now this chick gets half the season dedicated to her while AGAIN he will ignore people like tina and artie who have been there since season 1 and are REGULARS YET THEY GET NO STORY COMPARED TO HUGE STORIES OF EVERY GUEST STAR. CANCEL GLEE its so stupid now.
This is Ryan Murphy's M.O. He's great at creating shows but not good at maintaining them. Fox needs to take Glee away from him...Season 2 was horrible and, from the sound of things, Season 3 doesn't look so promising.
