'Glee': Chord Overstreet welcome back for season 3

Sam Evans fans, stand down. Apparently rumors of Chord Overstreet's exit from 'Glee' were greatly exaggerated. According to TV Line's Michael Ausiello, not much will change for Overstreet in season three. He just hasn't been promoted to a series regular like fellow "Glee"-sters Darren Criss and Harry Shum, Jr.
"His option to be a series regular was just not picked up at this time," a source tells Ausiello. "If Chord wants to appear on 'Glee,' the choice is his. The 'Glee' writers like his Sam character, and have plans to write for him. He and his reps have been told that he is welcome back to 'Glee,' and everyone hopes he will show up on August 10 when filming begins."
Whew. Because we were not ready to get all kinds of upset for Mercedes (Amber Riley), who just started dating Sam at the end of season two.

translation - the outcry is bugging us :) hope sam is back as often as last year.
That's just weird. You don't run a production by saying "Whoever shows up on this particular date, we'll write them into the show. But it their choice, and we won't plan ahead." If this is really the way Glee works, it's little wonder they're having trouble with scripting and storylines. Still, I want to believe this means we'll be seeing Sam Evans at least as often as before.
it sucks that the glee writers are starting writing their scripts for S3 when Chord was kicked out last week, now that they realized that Chord's have massive fans support, uproar and revolt.
They made a statement saying "oh, chord we wants you back!".

Sam is the much more interesting character when judging between Silent Mike and Patronizing Blaine. Without being promoted over these two, I wouldn't blame Chord for walking.
The show does seem to be diplomatically back peddling.
In the end me thinks this was all much ado about nothing. Glad he will be back
it's odd and very suspicious. Why Fox is treating glee viewers bunch of idiots. "Chord is welcome back to the glee. "I HOPE HE WILL SHOW UP on AUGUST 10 FILMING" What mockery is this? I hope he shows up? where's the contract as recurring guest star? So anyone who have guested in glee will show up when the filming starts even w/o signing an official contract??
