'Friday Night Lights' series finale (again): Why the show might finally get its Emmy

The long goodbye for "Friday Night Lights" finally ended with the NBC broadcast of the series finale, "Always" -- almost perfectly timed to the announcement of the 2011 Emmy nominations.

"FNL" came out with its most mentions yet (four), earning nods for outstanding drama series, leads Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton and outstanding writing for this very episode. (You can read executive producer and "Always" writer Jason Katims reaction to the news in Zap2it's interview with the showrunner.)

Well-deserved, no? Our last look at Dillon, Texas, balanced resolution with reality, giving the series a fitting, honest and ultimately uplifting conclusion.

And for those of you who just saw it for the first time, you can read our complete analysis of the episode as it was originally posted during the DirecTV finale in February.

Im so sad to see this show go off air, in lieu of crap like Big Brother and 16 and Pg!! I came to feel like I knew these kids, and their families, and everyone was ultimately so endearing it touched my heart...I will miss them and think of them as if it was a town I once lived in, and people I once knew.

This was an excellent show. Simply outstanding. One that I could hardly wait to see what happened from week to week. I really wished that they could have worked Smash into that last episode, however I do respect the fact that he had moved on with his life in Ministry and was no longer interested.

I Reaaaaaaallly hope they win...I mean its possible..Mad Men has lost a lot of momentum being off for so long, so hopefully..but who knows. The show and season & series was amazing so anyone who hasn't seen it has missed out..

I've never posted an online review about a TV show before but felt compelled to do so after the series finale of FNL. This is truly one of the best shows, both the writing and acting EVER, and the fact that it's been cancelled, while shows like Jersey Shore, Toddlers & Tiaras and Housewives of ... Are still on the air ang going strong all too telling of American society and culture these days. What a TERRIBLE shame. The show and it's characters will be greatly missed.

This was the best quality show...ever! But I never watched it on Friday night! That is what a DVR is for. The second best show is Parenting. Let's hope it stays on for several more years.
