Emily Maynard the next 'Bachelorette'? Yay or nay, fans?
The latest "Bachelor" franchise rumor to hit the ol' interwebs is US Weekly reporting that Emily Maynard is the next gal in line to be "The Bachelorette." A source tells the magazine, "She hasn't officially signed on yet, but it looks like a done deal." and also says that Emily wants to use her stint on the show to jump-start her broadcast TV career.Emily is fresh off being chosen as the winner of Brad Womack's second go-round and their problems and eventual split have been all over the media for months. But we aren't sure this makes a ton of sense and here's why.
First of all, the franchise has to have another "Bachelor" season before the next "Bachelorette" season. What if some darling of that season becomes the gal all the fans are clamoring for and Emily is long-forgotten? Keep in mind the next "Bachelorette" won't be announced until March 2012, which puts Emily at being a year removed from her first stint on TV. That's like a million years in reality TV time.
Secondly, if Emily is so popular that ABC thinks this is a good idea, why didn't they have her be the bachelorette this time around? We could all kinda see that she and Brad weren't working out at the reunion special. ABC could've spun that just fine and had her ready to go. Why wait until she's a year off the show to use her if she's so well-liked?
Honestly, we didn't really care for Emily on Brad's season and neither did a lot of our readers, so we don't quite see where the popularity would come from that would have ABC doing this deal so far in advance. We reached out to ABC for comment and they have no comment at this time.
One thing's for sure - if this happens, Bentley is going to be so mad.
What do you think of the prospect of Emily Maynard as the next "Bachelorette"? Vote now in our poll.

HELL NO! Shouldn't this woman be caring for her daughter?
Well said, Chris... Especially when that seems to be the reason why it didn't work with Brad, couldn't handle the media and such.
no way, i think she's a space-case. Weriod too.
Another media ***** trying to attain fame for herself. I certainly wish ABC would cancel this crap once and for all. These two shows do not work when bringing people together, UNLESS ABC pays them to get married!!
Big fat NO!!!!!!! She was annoying on the show and seemed like a spoiled brat. I won't watch if she's on!!!!!
I voted "eh, if they can't find..."
The men wish for Emily instead of Ashley... so... maybe William, Bentley, and others may want to be recast on the next Bachelorette. Depend on how hot the women are on the next season's Bachelor.
The men this season suck so I hope to god they're not on next season if Emily is Bachelorette.
Emily would have been better than mental wreck Ashley (in hindsight) - but the horse already left the barn. Get a new Bachelor, not a rehash or one of the loser men from this season (unless it's Jeff of the Opera... now that would be compelling TV) and throw in the women and we'll see if any stick.
Ali set the standards pretty high as far as likeable and fun bachelorettes go, and Ashley blew it. Don't throw in Emily prematurely.
Unless the producers plan to have every guy they cast for her "potential husband" live in or near Charlotte, NC or have $$$$ in their bank accounts it won't work. She is not about to leave the big $$$ financial support she is receiving from Ricky Hendrick's family for her and her daughter. That was the reason she broke up with Brad. Wouldn't relocate.
its getting to be stupid... the whole franchise needs to go ... we all know that the guy that gets screwed the most get the "bachelor" show and the girl that gets screwed from that season gets the next "bachelorette" and the sick cycle would continue
