Elizabeth Hurley joins 'Gossip Girl' in recurring role

Elizabeth Hurley is set to join the cast of The CW's "Gossip Girl," TVLine reports. Hurley will be facing off with Gossip Girl herself in a multi-episode arc when the drama returns for its fifth season. 

Hurley is set to play Diana Payne, a character executive producers Stephanie Savage and Joshua Safran describe as "a sexy, smart, self-made media mogul and all-around force to be reckoned with. Diana's entrance on the Upper East Side will change the lives of all our characters -- including, and especially, Gossip Girl herself."

Savage and Safran add, "Elizabeth's sense of humor, intelligence and beauty fit the "GG" world perfectly. We feel very fortunate to have her."
