Arnold Schwarzenegger scandal gets 'Law & Order: SVU' treatment

With so little of the "Law & Order" franchise left intact, it shouldn't come as any surprise that the honors of adapting the Arnold Schwarzenegger infidelity scandal to the tube goes to "Special Victims Unit."

TVLine reports the now Chris-Meloni-less series has tweaked the tabloid story of a famous face secretly fathering a child with someone from his household staff, but the inspiration is clear.

The episode, that will air early in the upcoming Season 13, swaps an actor-turned-governor for a philanthropist from New York aristocracy. Other fictional flourishes are said to include a possibly villainous turn for his entitled son and the swapping of a housekeeper baby mama for a member of the couple's elite circle of friends.

"SVU" recented added Danny Pino ("Cold Case") as a Meloni replacement and Kelly Giddish ("Chase") to make up for for Mariska Hargitay's decreased screen time next season.

I liked Pino on "Cold Case" but he is by far no Chris Melloni. The fans have invested in Benson and Stabler unlike any other characters in the whole of L&O, and without closure on him -- a departure episode with a meaty juicy reason, such as him finally going too far and snapping -- there will be to much disappointment and apathy for the show to last more than two years, maximum. Better they should sign Melloni with any dollar number he wants and end it with this season.
