Trevor Donovan leaving '90210': Why should we watch now?
Sad, sad news for "90210" fans: Trevor Donovan, a.k.a. Teddy Montgomery, a.k.a. the most interesting thing about the show's third season... is leaving.TVLine reports that Donovan will appear in five episodes next season in a guest-starring capacity, but he'll no longer be billed as a series regular. Donovan's exit follows those of Lori Loughlin and Ryan Eggold, the only "adults" remaining on series.
The West Bev kids are headed to college next year, and in the season finale, Teddy made mention of trying to return to the tennis career that was sidelined by an injury. Perhaps he'll be hitting the tennis circuit, taking him out of Beverly Hills?
Last time we spoke with Donovan, his future on the series was uncertain. "I don't have a clue on the planet," he said of Teddy's Season 4 direction. "I swear to you, I have no idea. They've left it very open-ended with my character. We'll see which direction he goes in. There are so many possibilities in my mind, which is kind of cool."
Teddy's story made headlines this year. After building a reputation as a rather undiscerning ladies' man in Season 2, Season 3 saw Teddy exploring his sexuality further and ultimately coming out to his friends as gay. When the season ended, he was beginning a stable relationship with Marco (Freddie Smith).
Frankly, we're super bummed about this latest development, though we're sure Donovan will go on to bigger and better things right away. Teddy's story was our No. 1 reason for tuning in to "90210" in Season 3. What do you think, Zap2it readers? Weigh in below in our comments section.

that was only reason i even watched. all the other story lines where boring and dull.
Right at the moment, I find it hard to find anything interesting about 90210. I wasn't a fan before but did tune into the show to watch Teddy's coming out story. The rest of the teenager storylines have been done time and again and just weren't that interesting to me. It was a missed opportunity to see Teddy struggle with maintaining a relationship and keeping a career. Since he only came out to the people in school -how would this disclosure affect his professional life. There were still stories to tell with his character. But maybe the writers didn't know what to do with a gay character once the "coming out" story is told. And that just seems stupid -but probably true.
I think the whole show sucks period! I gave it a chance and watched it in the beginning but I stopped watching b/c I thought the show was terrible! I was a huge fan of the original and the new 90210 doesn't hold a candle to the original! This show should be either canceled or totally rewritten!
this show is rubbish without Teddy. Trevor Donovan is too good for it! I w
I never liked Teddy. At his introduction he was the world most flat character. Really, the ex-boyfriend that got a lot of girls? His journey as a gay has been interesting and far more realistic than many of the 5 billion gay characters that come out on TV every week. Yet, I don't think there's much to tell with him. I mean really. He never felt as a part of the group and now he's definitely not integral anymore. Not to say that not every character on the show is expendable but I won't miss him. He got to tell the most interesting story Teddy could bring and I won't miss him for a second.
Teddy was the best part of the show
Well at least I got to know of him from this show. I won't watch anymore when he leaves but I'll follow him to another show.
Totally agree! His story was great and he was great. Bad move.
Dunno whats going on with this show. Lori Laughlin, Ryan Egold and now Trevor Donovan are all gone along with the show runner... forget her name.
Sounds like everybody is seeing the writing on the wall and deserting a sinking ship.
Although, LL and RE were "fired".
Oh, and whats his name... the dad also left.
Stick a fork in this POS. It's done. Trevor was the only reason for tuning in. Now we're stuck with more Naveed and Adriana? I'd rather drink bleach.
